Summer Blues

If there is ANY summer that is worthy of the blues, the one we're in the middle of has got to be it - don't you think?! Well the Mark Potvin Blues Trio is coming to take those blues away!

Potvin has opened for such greats as: Colin James, Blue Rodeo, Paul Shaffer, Denny Dougherty, Lamont Cranston, Lighthouse, The Detroit Women of Blues and has played at the Thunder Bay Blues Festival. He loves all things nostalgic .... especially Jazz and Blues. His songbook ranges from the twenties right up to the fifties.

A little swing, a little jazz and a little blues - let Mark and his band take your worries away!

Poultry that likes to Party!

Yes indeed-y, it is time for the arrival of those crazy, fun and talented guys - The Wild Turkeys! Although we had heard of "The Turkey's", we never really had a chance to actually hear them play until last year's Red Rock Folk Festival. That first afternoon, they were intitially at one of the smaller stages when a brief but mildly torrential rainstorm appeared. The audience didn't need an invitation to pick up their chairs  and get  under cover. At this point, we were all pretty cozy and the boys seemed to feed off the energy of the group gathered there. They turned their unique and high-energy "swamp-stomp country" up a notch and just continued playing as the rain pounded down around us. I am certain that every one of the people who were in the tent that August afternoon are now fans for life of The Wild Turkeys. We are really pleased to have the boys play our neck of the woods. They are wonderful, creative musicians and really have fun performing their music - we hope that you'll mosey on down to "The Lot" this Wednesday to experience this entertaining band! Concert Ts and band CDs will be available. Remember your lawnchair and a suggested $5 donation for the band. See you there!

With an introduction like that, its hard to say much more! A little bit country, a bit alternative and a bit of pop, Tia McGraff along with her partner Tommy Parham is sure to be a pleasure to listen to. Fresh, Easy and Breezy - Its JANE'S PARTY!

The Jane's Party CD has been played and replayed and just thoroughly enjoyed at the Coulter household for months now. This group of young Canadian guys have an easy, casual sound and style that is very appealing. I have a vision of them just sitting around, picking up their various instruments and simply playing as they are heard here. They've played some of the great Toronto venues like The Horseshoe and Hugh's Room and we're looking forward to hearing them at one of Northwestern Ontario's rising venues - Concerts in the Parking Lot! Also, be sure to tell any college or university students in your life about this one - they won't want to miss it either.

CITPL 2009: Summer Schedule

We're happy to say that the fourth annual "Concerts in the Parking Lot!" series is pretty much set to go! As always, the concerts will take place in the Superior Place Mall (parking lot in front of Pizza Hut) at 7:00pm every summer Wednesday evening.

Folks are asked to bring a lawn chair and a (suggested $5) donation for the performers. CDs and Ts will be available for purchase. Keep an eye out in the community for our posters or, to learn more about the scheduled artists, feel free to click on anyone from the "2009 Artists" column to go to their website. Many artists have both a personal site as well as a "myspace" site. Visit the site often for updates.

We are confidently looking forward to a sunny, warm summer filled with lots of great live music. Join us in our vision, won't you?! But hey, the show will go on either way ...
